Chinese Dragon

Hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method, 530 × 180 × 300 mm, 6 kg. Chinese dragon in flowing motion, finished with a hand-applied, sealed patina — ideal for desks, shelves and reception counters.

Product Overview

Cast by the traditional lost-wax method and finished entirely by hand, this bronze dragon presents Chinese dragon in flowing motion. a hand-applied patina gives the surface its depth, and the simplified planes keep the design readable in modern interiors. At 530 × 180 × 300 mm, it is sized for desks, shelves and console tops.

The body is a single ribbon of motion from horns to tail, with the legs reaching at different phases so the dragon seems to swim through air. Scale rows are indicated by shallow ridges; the head carries the detail budget.

Because every surface is patinated by hand before sealing, the finish has depth: brighter where the forms rise, deeper in the hollows. Placed on desks, shelves and console tops, the sculpture reads as a lived-in bronze object rather than a plated ornament, and it keeps its tone with nothing more than routine dusting.

Design Inspiration: The Chinese Dragon — Guardian of Water and Fortune

The design keeps the iconography — horns, whiskers, scales, claws — but resolves it into flowing planes so the piece stays sculptural rather than ornate. For international interiors the dragon works on two levels at once: the mythical guardian familiar from Western fantasy, and the benevolent water-bringer of the East — power and blessing in a single form.

Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina

Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.

The head is the finest work — horns, whiskers, brow and teeth are each cleaned by hand after casting, and the eyes are set with a brighter polish.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does the Chinese dragon symbolize?

Good fortune, power and protection — unlike the Western dragon, the Chinese dragon is a benevolent, rain-bringing creature and a classic gift for openings and milestones.

2. Is the dragon suitable for a business gift?

Very much so — dragon bronzes are a staple of corporate gifting in Chinese business culture, symbolizing strength and auspicious growth. We can add logo engraving for project orders.

3. Can I order this piece in a different color?

Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.

4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?

The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.

5. What is the MOQ?

We work with both single-piece orders and bulk project orders. Contact us with your quantity and destination port for an accurate quotation and lead time.
