Product Overview
Among TYART’s animal bronzes, this crane stands out for the way a hand-applied patina plays over its forms: silver-blue crane with red crown on black base. The modelling is calm and confident, built from broad planes that catch light along the silhouette. At 455 × 178 × 178 mm, it is sized for desks, shelves and console tops.
Balance is the quiet achievement of the model: the bird’s mass is carried directly over one leg or the base, with the neck and tail used as counterweights. The result stands firmly on small surfaces — console ends, shelf fronts — without looking precarious.
The patina is built up in layers and sealed, which means tone varies slightly from piece to piece — the mark of genuine hand finishing rather than a sprayed imitation. On a desk, shelf or console top, it holds its own without competing with the furniture around it, and it needs no more care than an occasional soft-cloth dusting.
Design Inspiration: Grace, Patience and Long Life
Wading birds are built for sculpture: everything about them is line — the S of the neck, the stick of the legs, the flat plane of the folded wings — and the meanings travel with the form. The design keeps the drawing honest and lets the material do the rest: feathers suggested in shallow relief, the beak and crown polished as accents, the whole bird balanced on the smallest possible footprint.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.
Feather groups are built up in shallow, overlapping layers — each layer’s edge is softened by hand so the transitions read as plumage rather than steps, and the crown or beak is polished as a bright accent against the softer body tone.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does a crane sculpture symbolize?
Longevity, elegance and good news in the East; patience, grace and new beginnings in the West — the vigilant heron and the stork that delivers new life each add their own note. It is a popular gift for elders and weddings, and a natural fit for studies, lobbies and coastal or resort interiors.
2. Does the crane stand securely on its thin legs?
Yes. The legs are hollow-cast bronze and the weight is designed to sit directly over the supporting leg and base. On this model the casting is trued after finishing so the bird stands level; a felt pad can be added under the base on request.
3. Can I order this piece in a different color?
Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.
4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
5. What is the MOQ?
