Rhino II

Hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method, 410 × 150 × 150 mm, 3.16 kg. Pair of stylized rhinos, amber and grey, finished with a hand-applied, sealed patina — ideal for desks, shelves and reception counters.

Product Overview

Rhino II is a hollow-cast bronze rhino sculpture with a hand-applied patina. The subject — pair of stylized rhinos, amber and grey — is drawn with clean sculptural planes rather than surface fuss, so the piece reads clearly from across the room and keeps rewarding detail up close. At 410 × 150 × 150 mm, it is sized for desks, shelves and console tops.

The body is a low, wide mass with the skin folds indicated as broad, shallow channels. The horn is the one fine point — polished, slightly upturned, and cast as one piece with the head.

The finish is sealed against fingerprints and daily handling. On a desk, shelf or console top, the piece works as a quiet anchor in the room — close enough to touch, solid enough to stay put, and simple to care for with a dry or slightly damp cloth.

Design Inspiration: Armored Calm in a Modern Silhouette

Rhinos read as protectors: heavy, unhurried, unbothered — armor without aggression. The design keeps the head low and the stance wide, and the horn takes a brighter polish as the single sharp accent on an otherwise rounded form. In reception areas the message lands without a caption: steady, secure, here for the long term.

Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina

Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.

Skin plates are cut in shallow relief and softened by hand so the patina shades them naturally; the horn and toe edges take the brighter polish.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does a rhino sculpture symbolize?

Unshakable calm and protection — mass without aggression. Rhino pieces are popular for reception areas and as masculine-leaning corporate gifts.

2. Is the horn metal all the way?

Yes — the horn is hollow-cast bronze in one piece with the head, polished brighter than the body. There is no separate horn to loosen or break.

3. Can I order this piece in a different color?

Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.

4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?

The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.

5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?

Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
