Product Overview
Cast by the traditional lost-wax method and finished entirely by hand, this bronze dragonfly presents turquoise dragonfly with open wings. a hand-applied patina gives the surface its depth, and the simplified planes keep the design readable in modern interiors. At 849 × 290 × 901 mm (supplied in 2 sizes), it is designed for lobby floors and large entrance surfaces.
The body is segmented with clean junctions, and the legs are set at believable working angles. Where wings are used they are cast thin and slightly raised, so the piece casts a delicate shadow line on the wall or surface behind it.
The patina is built up in layers and sealed, which means tone varies slightly from piece to piece — the mark of genuine hand finishing rather than a sprayed imitation. On a lobby floor or large entrance surface, it holds its own without competing with the furniture around it, and it needs no more care than an occasional soft-cloth dusting.
Design Inspiration: Small Creatures, Precise Casting
Insects carry meanings of change and endurance across cultures — the scarab’s rebirth, the dragonfly’s transformation in Japanese poetry — and their geometry (wings, segmented bodies, spiraled legs) suits bronze perfectly. The design keeps the anatomy believable and the surfaces calm: enlarged beyond life, the insect stops being a curiosity and becomes a design object.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Every sculpture is hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method: a wax model is taken from the original master, encased in a ceramic shell, burnt out and replaced with molten bronze. The raw casting is cleaned, welded and refined entirely by hand before the patina is applied layer by layer and sealed. Because the patina is finished by hand, each piece varies slightly in tone and depth — a mark of genuine cast bronze rather than a sprayed imitation.
Segment lines are cut in shallow relief so the patina shades each body section; polished accents on the head and wing bases give the creature its alertness.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why an insect as a sculpture subject?
Insects are where precision casting shows: thin legs, fine antennae and clean segmentation are hard to fake in lesser materials. Enlarged into bronze, they become design objects — a favorite of collectors and design-minded clients.
2. Are the legs fragile?
They are bronze — far stronger than resin or ceramic — but the design keeps them proportionally robust. Display the piece where it will not be knocked, lift it by the body, and it will last for generations.
3. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
4. What is the MOQ?
We work with both single-piece orders and bulk project orders. Contact us with your quantity and destination port for an accurate quotation and lead time.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
