A Group of Dolphins

Hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method, 407 × 137 × 241 mm. Dolphin group leaping over a wave base, finished with a hand-applied, sealed patina — ideal for desks, shelves and reception counters.

Product Overview

This dolphin bronze takes dolphin group leaping over a wave base as its subject and edits everything else away — no clutter, no fuss, just the gesture and the mass of the animal carried in hollow-cast bronze. a hand-applied patina is applied by hand and sealed. At 407 × 137 × 241 mm, it is sized for desks, shelves and console tops.

Group compositions are arranged so each animal holds a different phase of the leap: one breaking out, one cresting, one diving back in. Seen together they animate the whole sculpture; seen from the side they stack into a single wave of bronze.

Because every surface is patinated by hand before sealing, the finish has depth: brighter where the forms rise, deeper in the hollows. Placed on desks, shelves and console tops, the sculpture reads as a lived-in bronze object rather than a plated ornament, and it keeps its tone with nothing more than routine dusting.

Design Inspiration: Intelligence, Freedom and the Open Sea

Dolphins have meant good luck to sailors since antiquity — on Greek and Roman ships they were the friendly guides home — and today the whale carries a larger meaning still: depth, intelligence and the health of the oceans we share. Marine bronzes draw on that warmth, and the subjects need no explanation in any market: the arcing body above the wave says everything. This model captures the animal at the top of its arc, body extended, with the wave base taking the weight so the figure seems to leap out of the piece.

Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina

The piece is produced by the traditional lost-wax method. Wax is modelled from the master, invested in a ceramic shell and burnt out, and molten bronze is poured into the cavity, so the finished casting is a hollow bronze shell rather than a solid block — lighter to handle, easier to place, and true to the way fine bronzes have been made for centuries. After casting, the surface is chased and polished by hand, then patinated in layered tones and sealed.

Fins, flukes and beaks are the thin-section work: after casting they are checked for completeness, cleaned by hand and burnished so the edges brighten, while the bodies keep a softer matte tone.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this a dolphin or a whale model?

The listing title states the species of this model. The collection includes both dolphin groups and whale mother-and-calf pieces; if you are planning a marine-themed project, contact us and we will show you the full range.

2. Would this suit a spa, pool room or seaside property?

Very much so — marine bronzes are among our most requested subjects for resorts, spas and waterfront residences. The patina is sealed for indoor use; for covered outdoor spaces near salt air, ask us about the protective coating options in your quotation.

3. Is each sculpture exactly the same?

The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.

4. What is the MOQ?

We work with both single-piece orders and bulk project orders. Contact us with your quantity and destination port for an accurate quotation and lead time.

5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?

Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
