Hillstone No.3 – Teal Blue Verdigris Bronze Sculpture

Hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method, 420 × 250 × 670 mm, 7.0 kg. A third hillstone, hollowed and folded like a wind-carved ridge, finished with a hand-applied, sealed patina — ideal for living rooms, hotel lounges and reception areas.

Product Overview

Model XL19A2-54 is built around a single image: a third hillstone, hollowed and folded like a wind-carved ridge. The piece is hollow-cast by the traditional lost-wax method, then patinated and sealed by hand, so a blue verdigris patina with gold accents sits over crisp, hand-chased detail. At 420 × 250 × 670 mm, it is sized for sideboards, consoles and reception counters.

The proportions stay low and wide, which makes them natural anchors behind a sofa, beside a bed, or along a long console where a vertical piece would interrupt the room.

The patina is built up in layers and sealed, which means tone varies slightly from piece to piece — the mark of genuine hand finishing rather than a sprayed imitation. On a sideboard, console or reception counter, it holds its own without competing with the furniture around it, and it needs no more care than an occasional soft-cloth dusting.

Design Inspiration: Mountains, Horizontal

Land art gave the West a new way to look at hills — Robert Smithson and Michael Heizer moved earth itself into art, and suddenly the horizontal landscape became sculpture you could put in a room. This series borrows that scale of thinking: a single sweep of hill, blue-green with verdigris, its ridge crested in gold, curled or hollowed like a landform caught by the wind.

Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina

The piece is produced by the traditional lost-wax method. Wax is modelled from the master, invested in a ceramic shell and burnt out, and molten bronze is poured into the cavity, so the finished casting is a hollow bronze shell rather than a solid block — lighter to handle, easier to place, and true to the way fine bronzes have been made for centuries. After casting, the surface is chased and polished by hand, then patinated in layered tones and sealed.

Hollowed models are verified for wall thickness through the undercuts, and every base is flat-milled so the sweep sits level on furniture.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I use several hillstones together?

Yes — the four models share height and patina language on purpose. A row of three along a long console reads as one continuous range, which is exactly the effect the series was designed for.

2. Why blue-green rather than stone grey?

Verdigris is the color bronze turns in the landscape — it signals real material and age, and it lifts the piece against grey interiors. Gold crests add the sunrise note that keeps the form from going flat.

3. Can I order this piece in a different color?

Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.

4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?

The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.

5. What is the MOQ?
