Product Overview
Cast by the traditional lost-wax method and finished entirely by hand, this bronze beetle presents stag beetle with antler-like jaws, bronze red. a hand-applied patina gives the surface its depth, and the simplified planes keep the design readable in modern interiors. It is sized for sideboards, consoles and reception counters.
Scale is part of the design: enlarged beyond life, the insect stops being a curiosity and becomes a form study — which is why the pieces work as desk objects and wall accents as well as collector items.
Because every surface is patinated by hand before sealing, the finish has depth: brighter where the forms rise, deeper in the hollows. Placed on sideboards, consoles and reception counters, the sculpture reads as a lived-in bronze object rather than a plated ornament, and it keeps its tone with nothing more than routine dusting.
Design Inspiration: Small Creatures, Precise Casting
Beetles have carried meaning since the scarab of ancient Egypt stood for rebirth and creation, and in modern design the enlarged insect has become a favorite form study — from brass mantelpiece beetles to dragonfly lamps. This piece takes on the sculptor’s precision test: legs thinner than a pencil, antennae that must survive casting, a body that reads from a meter away — finished so the bronze’s weight gives the creature unexpected presence.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.
Segment lines are cut in shallow relief so the patina shades each body section; polished accents on the head and wing bases give the creature its alertness.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why an insect as a sculpture subject?
Insects are where precision casting shows: thin legs, fine antennae and clean segmentation are hard to fake in lesser materials. Enlarged into bronze, they become design objects — a favorite of collectors and design-minded clients.
2. Are the legs fragile?
They are bronze — far stronger than resin or ceramic — but the design keeps them proportionally robust. Display the piece where it will not be knocked, lift it by the body, and it will last for generations.
3. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
4. What is the MOQ?
We work with both single-piece orders and bulk project orders. Contact us with your quantity and destination port for an accurate quotation and lead time.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
