Product Overview
Model XL18A3-14 is built around a single image: two gilded hands reaching toward each other, finished with verdigris cuffs, no full figure. The piece is hollow-cast by the traditional lost-wax method, then patinated and sealed by hand, so a polished golden finish sits over crisp, hand-chased detail. At 300 × 120 × 625 mm, it is sized for sideboards, consoles and reception counters.
The hands are held clear of the base by a slim black-finished stand, so the negative space between the fingertips stays visible from every angle — that gap, not the bronze, is the sculpture’s true subject.
The patina is built up in layers and sealed, which means tone varies slightly from piece to piece — the mark of genuine hand finishing rather than a sprayed imitation. On a sideboard, console or reception counter, it holds its own without competing with the furniture around it, and it needs no more care than an occasional soft-cloth dusting.
Design Inspiration: A Dialogue in Two Hands
In Buddhist art the hand carries the religion’s gentlest vocabulary: the mudras of teaching, touching the earth, and receiving — with the left hand open, the right hand giving. Two hands reaching for each other read the same way in both traditions: connection, trust, an offer being made and accepted. On a console or desk the sculpture works as a quiet statement about meeting halfway.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Every sculpture is hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method: a wax model is taken from the original master, encased in a ceramic shell, burnt out and replaced with molten bronze. The raw casting is cleaned, welded and refined entirely by hand before the patina is applied layer by layer and sealed. Because the patina is finished by hand, each piece varies slightly in tone and depth — a mark of genuine cast bronze rather than a sprayed imitation.
The gilded finish and the green cuffs are masked and patinated in separate passes; the slim support is welded to the base and re-finished so the hands appear to float without visible fixings.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is this a pair of hands from one person or two?
It is a symbolic composition of two hands — one offering, one receiving — rather than a study of a single figure. The fingertips almost meet, which is the point: the sculpture is about the moment of connection.
2. Does the piece have a religious meaning?
Not necessarily. The reaching gesture echoes Buddhist hand symbols of giving and receiving, and Western viewers often think of Rodin’s hand studies — both readings work, and the piece was designed to welcome either.
3. Can I order this piece in a different color?
Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.
4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
