Product Overview
Zen Meditation Under the Moon – Bronze Sculpture is a hollow-cast bronze zen figure sculpture with a polished golden finish. The subject — a meditating figure under a gilded moon ring, resting on clouds — is drawn with clean sculptural planes rather than surface fuss, so the piece reads clearly from across the room and keeps rewarding detail up close. At 870 × 120 × 640 mm, it is sized for sideboards, consoles and reception counters.
Each figure is an exercise in reduction: a head, a torso, a gesture — no drapery, no anecdote. Some models add one symbol (the moon ring, the wave) set against the figure’s stillness. Surfaces are smooth and confident, finished to hold a soft sheen rather than a mirror.
The patina is built up in layers and sealed, which means tone varies slightly from piece to piece — the mark of genuine hand finishing rather than a sprayed imitation. On a sideboard, console or reception counter, it holds its own without competing with the furniture around it, and it needs no more care than an occasional soft-cloth dusting.
Design Inspiration: The Mindful Form
Mindfulness made meditation a global interior theme — from Kyoto’s rock gardens to the meditation corners of Western homes — and sculpture followed. This series gives that practice a bronze form: figures reduced to a few essential planes, seated or balanced, sometimes under a golden moon ring or on a curling wave. Nothing is literal; the stillness is the subject.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.
Smooth minimal forms show every tool mark, so the raw casting is ground and refined longer than usual before the patina is applied in even washes and sealed.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does the piece have a religious meaning?
It is spiritual rather than religious — stillness, balance, the meditating human form. It is at home in a meditation room, but equally at home as pure contemporary sculpture in a secular interior.
2. Why the ring / wave beside the figure?
The ring is the moon (and echoes the ensō circle of Zen painting); the wave is the moving world the meditator sits above. Each symbol sets the figure’s stillness off — calm needs context.
3. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
4. What is the MOQ?
We work with both single-piece orders and bulk project orders. Contact us with your quantity and destination port for an accurate quotation and lead time.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
