Product Overview
Among TYART’s animal bronzes, this snail stands out for the way a hand-applied patina plays over its forms: bronze snail with blue-green shell. The modelling is calm and confident, built from broad planes that catch light along the silhouette. At 200 × 81 × 119 mm, it is sized for desks, shelves and console tops.
Surfaces contrast deliberately: the shell takes a brighter polish, the body a softer patina, so the two textures tell shell from skin at a glance.
The patina is built up in layers and sealed, which means tone varies slightly from piece to piece — the mark of genuine hand finishing rather than a sprayed imitation. On a desk, shelf or console top, it holds its own without competing with the furniture around it, and it needs no more care than an occasional soft-cloth dusting.
Design Inspiration: Slow and Steady
The snail carries its home and keeps its pace — patience, persistence and a certain humor, the “slow and steady” wisdom of Aesop’s fables. This bronze makes the most of both: a spiraled shell polished to catch light, a body modeled with real softness, and eyestalks with personality.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.
Eyestalks are the fine work — cast thin, trued by hand, and tipped with small polished beads that give the snail its expression.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does a snail symbolize?
Patience, persistence and steady progress — “slow and steady.” It is a friendly, slightly humorous gift for new ventures, studies and anyone starting a long project.
2. Can it be placed near plants or in a conservatory?
Indoors, yes — including bright conservatories. For uncovered outdoor use, ask us about protective coating options, as standing water and weather will eventually affect any sealed patina.
3. Can I order this piece in a different color?
Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.
4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
