Product Overview
The crested ibis belongs to TYART’s animal collection: crested ibis on a marble base, hollow-cast in bronze by the traditional lost-wax method and hand-finished with a hand-applied patina. At 285 × 116 × 400 mm, it is sized for desks, shelves and console tops.
The composition is built on three lines: the neck, the back, and the trailing leg. Each is drawn long and kept unbroken, so the bird reads as a single calligraphic stroke from the side. Feather groups are separated by shallow ridges rather than deep carving, letting the patina shade each layer.
Because every surface is patinated by hand before sealing, the finish has depth: brighter where the forms rise, deeper in the hollows. Placed on desks, shelves and console tops, the sculpture reads as a lived-in bronze object rather than a plated ornament, and it keeps its tone with nothing more than routine dusting.
Design Inspiration: Grace, Patience and Long Life
The crane carries a blessing in both hemispheres. In East Asian art it is the bird of longevity and transcendence — the companion of immortals, painted for a thousand years on pine branches, clouds and moonlit water — while in the West its cousins stand for patience and new beginnings: the vigilant heron, the stork that delivers new life, the flamingo that brings a note of resort-side glamour. This bronze borrows the whole heritage: long legs, a lifted breast, a beak drawn like a brushstroke. Whether standing alone on one leg or rising through a pine scene, it brings a quiet, poetic calm to the room it stands in.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
The piece is produced by the traditional lost-wax method. Wax is modelled from the master, invested in a ceramic shell and burnt out, and molten bronze is poured into the cavity, so the finished casting is a hollow bronze shell rather than a solid block — lighter to handle, easier to place, and true to the way fine bronzes have been made for centuries. After casting, the surface is chased and polished by hand, then patinated in layered tones and sealed.
The legs are the technical challenge: cast thin, they are straightened and trued by hand after casting, then checked for balance so the bird stands level on uneven surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What does a crane sculpture symbolize?
Longevity, elegance and good news in the East; patience, grace and new beginnings in the West — the vigilant heron and the stork that delivers new life each add their own note. It is a popular gift for elders and weddings, and a natural fit for studies, lobbies and coastal or resort interiors.
2. Does the crane stand securely on its thin legs?
Yes. The legs are hollow-cast bronze and the weight is designed to sit directly over the supporting leg and base. On this model the casting is trued after finishing so the bird stands level; a felt pad can be added under the base on request.
3. Can I order this piece in a different color?
Yes. The finish shown is the standard patina of this model, but the same sculpture can be produced in other tones — warm brown, antique gold, verdigris green or a custom two-tone patina. Hand patina is our standard process, so an alternative finish does not significantly affect lead time.
4. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
