Product Overview
Seated Lady Playing the Guqin No.1 – Bronze is a hollow-cast bronze figure sculpture with a hand-applied green patina. The subject — a seated green-robed lady cradling her guqin — is drawn with clean sculptural planes rather than surface fuss, so the piece reads clearly from across the room and keeps rewarding detail up close. At 680 × 270 × 740 mm, it is sized for sideboards, consoles and reception counters.
Instruments are modeled close to the body, so the figure stays smooth-edged and modern — suitable for low cabinets and media consoles where projecting parts would be vulnerable.
The finish is sealed against fingerprints and daily handling. On a sideboard, console or reception counter, the piece works as a quiet anchor in the room — close enough to touch, solid enough to stay put, and simple to care for with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
Design Inspiration: The Seated Ensemble
In Chinese painting, seated performers belong to the intimate chamber concert rather than the stage; the mood is private, cultured, unhurried. Placed on a media console or tea table, the sculpture brings that chamber mood home — a quiet evening, an instrument, no hurry.
Craftsmanship: Lost-Wax Casting and Hand Patina
Casting begins with the original master model. A wax copy is coated in ceramic, fired, and replaced with molten bronze in the lost-wax method our foundry has used for years. The hollow-cast bronze is then fettled and finished by hand — seams removed, detail sharpened, surface evened — before the patina is built up in successive washes and sealed to protect the tone. Small variations between pieces are the signature of hand finishing, not a defect.
Two patinas meet in one figure: the verdigris green of the robe is applied first and masked, then the face and hands are polished and sealed in a warm gilt — a two-stage finish done entirely by hand.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is the face gilded while the robe is green?
The two-tone finish follows a classic Chinese sculpture logic: gilding honors the figure, verdigris dresses the body. It also helps at a distance — the warm face keeps the sculpture human even when the robe blends into the interior.
2. Do the seated musicians work as a set?
Yes. The guqin, flute and erhu players share the same robe, finish and scale, so they can be grouped as a small ensemble on a long console — a favorite arrangement for hotels and restaurants.
3. Is each sculpture exactly the same?
The casting comes from the same mold, so the form is consistent. The patina, however, is applied by hand, which means slight variations in tone between individual pieces — a normal characteristic of genuine cast bronze.
4. What is the MOQ?
We work with both single-piece orders and bulk project orders. Contact us with your quantity and destination port for an accurate quotation and lead time.
5. How is the sculpture packed for shipping?
Each piece is wrapped in protective foam and packed in a reinforced export carton; larger pieces travel in a foam-lined wooden crate. Wooden crates are standard for project shipments.
